As 2025 draws to a close, I’d like to take a moment to say a genuine thank you to all my customers, partners and readers for your continued support throughout the year.
Whether we’ve worked together on a Power BI report, untangled spatial data, talked asset management strategy, or simply exchanged ideas over email or LinkedIn, I truly appreciate the trust you place in Iamdata Solutions. Working with councils and asset professionals who care deeply about making better, more informed decisions for their communities is what makes this work so rewarding, so thank you!
As always, this year reinforced something I strongly believe, and that is that of course good asset management starts with good data, but it is people who make it work.
A Year of Progress, Curiosity and Practical Outcomes
2025 was a year of momentum. Across projects and conversations, there was a clear shift toward:
moving away from static documents and spreadsheets
improving data quality and connectivity
using Power BI as an everyday decision-making tool
and laying stronger foundations for automation and AI
These themes showed up not just in client work, but also in the blog posts I shared throughout the year. All written to be practical, relatable and grounded in real local government experience.
If you missed any along the way (or want to revisit a few favourites), here’s a complete round-up of the 2025 blog highlights.
2025 Blog Highlights
Strategy, Analytics & Asset Management Thinking
These posts focused on strengthening the ‘why’ behind asset management helping councils understand not just what they own, but how assets perform, are used, and support long-term service delivery.
Power BI, Reporting & Decision Support
A strong focus this year was helping councils move beyond static reporting using Power BI to connect asset, financial and spatial data into living, decision-ready insights.
Spatial Data & Tools
A reminder of how powerful open-source spatial tools can be when combined with good data practices.
Adoption, Change & Capability Building
Because technology is only part of the story adoption, skills and change management matter just as much.
Automation, AI & Future Readiness
These posts explored how councils can prepare for what’s coming with a strong reminder that AI only works when the data foundations are solid.
Assets Beyond the Obvious
A timely reminder that infrastructure assets come in many forms and that natural assets deserve strategic attention too.

Looking Ahead to 2026
As we head into the Christmas break, I’m excited about what 2026 will bring deeper insights, better-connected data, and even more practical ways to support councils on their asset management journey.
Thank you again for reading, sharing, engaging and trusting Iamdata Solutions throughout 2025. Your support means more than you know.
I wish you a very Merry Christmas, a safe and relaxing holiday period, and a happy, healthy New Year. I look forward to working with you again in 2026.

I have worked on many different projects with my Local Government clients, from designing and developing Power BI Reports, to building SQL Server databases for spatial data, to managing and maintaining GIS and the Asset Management systems.
