POWER BI REPORT DEVELOPMENT
POWER BI REPORTING
Power BI is a business intelligence and analytics tool that allows you to build interactive reports and visualisations that can be easily published and shared with others within your organisation.
One of Power BI's strengths is that it can connect to many different data sources and more connections are being added daily!

PowerBI is the ideal reporting tool for any organisation and local government department. The example below is a simple report project showing some Infrastructure Asset Class information.
I've built a Menu page utilising bookmarks and buttons functionality that allows the user to easily navigate through the various pages.
POWER BI Example
Query Editor Interface
The query editor is where we shape, transform, and load data into the data model.
Data Profiling Tools in Query Editor
These Data Profiling Tools are so helpful, and often overlooked by users. The visualisations you build in Power BI are only as good as the data they use. I cannot stress enough the importance of having good quality data.
Data profiling tools like column quality, column distribution, and column profile provide a visual way to explore data and get a sense of your dataset composition, while the contextual menus allow you to solve column quality issues. Data Profiling helps us identify:
-
Anomalies in the data
-
We can exam data structures
-
We can interrogate column properties and statistics
The Column Distribution, Column Profile, and Column Quality are invaluable tools to help you determine how good your data is.
Column quality shows the percentage of values within a column that are valid, have errors, or are empty; column profile provides this information in the column statistics as well.
